Greencycle's staff have experience in the design, build and operation of many different types of recycling facility, including transfer stations, recycling collection facilities, materials recycling facilities and household waste recycling centres. An example is Lincolnshire County Council’s Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) in Gainsborough.

The Council's requirement was for a company to find a site and design a modern HWRC and then to operate it for 21 years. Greencycle’s current project management team worked with an architect to design a modern split level site based on its team's experience of operating numerous other HWRCs. We then managed the construction phase. Part of the Council's requirement was to provide an interim service on the site until the new facilities were finished.

This was achieved by using rollonoff containers and ramps on a fenced off part of the site, which was then moved when an area of the new site was completed. Greencycle also arranged for the site's planning permission and Environment Agency Site Licence.

The finished site has a canopied area large enough for nine container bays for the large volume recyclables and non recyclable waste. On the top level section there is also an area for the small volume recyclables and re-use. The site also has a weighbridge, CCTV and vehicle number plate recognition.
