Greencycle has a total waste management services contract with the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO). This covers its three sites in London and one in Milton Keynes.

Greencycle provides a flexible service that can continually adapt to the FCO’s needs as the percentage of materials recycled increases. When the contract started virtually nothing was recycled whereas now the figure is over 50%. As well as collecting both recyclable and non recyclable materials from each site, Greencycle provides a full time Recycling Operative on one of the sites who processes every item of waste to maximise recycling. Complete waste audits have been carried out to help Greencycle provide the most suitable services and to give feedback to the FCO about the areas it needs to address internally. For example the information regarding the number of paper hand towels being thrown away which were non-recyclable is now being used as part of a business case by the FCO to replace them with warm air dryers.

As well as its normal day to day business the FCO, like many other businesses, has requirements to deal with non standard situations such as refurbishments, office moves and specialist disposals. Greencycle has always been able to give very quick solutions to the FCO for such situations. We regularly provides bulky waste collections, that in the past have gone direct to landfill but are now collected and sorted. As these collections come from inside an office environment it means that very often 100% can be recycled or reused. Greencycle has also provided solutions to other areas such as the disposal of bomb blast curtains and specialist vehicles for particular applications.
